Franck, Jedi developer at Deemply

Our series of team profiles continues in today's article. We are staying within the development team for an interview with Franck. During our conversation, he opened up about his career path and his passions. Read on to find out more.

Building a path toward a career in development

Early in his career, Franck wasn't destined to become a developer. During his studies, he first gravitated toward industrial trades, specifically 3D design. It took him only a few days to realize this field wasn't for him. He then chose to enroll in a vocational diploma in commerce. After those two years, he continued his education with a vocational high school diploma in commerce. During these two years, he completed internships, and the company offered him a chance to continue with a higher-level degree. He declined, choosing instead to take a gap year to reflect on his future.

At the end of his year of reflection, he moved to the Vendée region to live with his father and landed a job as a sales advisor at Micromania. From 2011 to 2019, he worked in this role, thriving in the industry as a fan and gamer. Over the years, however, the pressure of management and sales targets grew, and the lack of career advancement eventually took its toll on his motivation, leading him to resign. Without a transition, he started working in a boat manufacturing factory. Then came 2020 and the Covid-19 crisis. His temporary contract ended and was not renewed. He found himself at home, still searching for his professional path.

To find his next job, he began researching a career that would excite him every day. After some thought, he decided to pursue training to become a web developer. Having taught himself to code his own video games, he realized that formal training would allow him to practice daily and thrive in a role that combines IT and technology.

He chose web development over game development because he knew that specialized game developers are few and far between, and that there would be more opportunities if he stayed in the web sector.

After his 6-month training program, Franck applied to Deemply (formerly registresecurite.com) after seeing a job posting. Jérôme contacted him and set up a meeting with Alban and Irwuin. 48 hours after that meeting, he was offered a position to join the team. He started in the office on January 10, 2022.

The idea of being part of the birth of an innovative project drives Franck in his daily tasks, as he told us: « In 10 years, I'll be able to tell the rest of the team that I was one of the pioneers who developed this solution ».

From the moment he walked into the office, he was struck by the modern workspace and the kindness of the team and leadership. His instincts were right! What he perceived during his interview were indeed the pillars of the company: kindness, attentiveness, proper equipment, and a positive atmosphere.

These factors of well-being at work are a priority for Franck, which is why—along with the trust placed in him—he is so happy at Deemply today.

Joining Deemply marked a turning point in his life

2022 was a pivotal year for Franck, marked by numerous changes in both his professional and personal life. All the opportunities and changes that stemmed from his arrival at Deemply (formerly registresecurite.com) have led Franck to say that he is now in a much better place, both personally and professionally.

We'll keep the details of his personal life private, but professionally, if you follow our LinkedIn page, you may have noticed that his responsibilities go beyond just development. Following a request from the marketing team, we asked Franck to create our solution presentation videos. He also played an active role in the redesign of our visual identity during our rebranding to Deemply. We made this request because he is a highly creative individual with a real talent for image creation and visual design.

Working in collaboration with Marina allows him to thrive by blending his passions for audiovisuals, design, and code.

Franck, the man behind the scenes with a Jedi side

Did the article title catch your eye? You might be wondering why we’re talking about Jedi. The answer is simple: since 2019, Franck has been helping to develop a sport that is still little-known to the general public: lightsaber combat.

Before taking up this sport, he hadn't found a physical activity that really suited him. A friend told him about a local lightsaber club, and as a Star Wars-loving geek, he decided to give it a go and attended his first training session. It was a revelation, and he signed up for his membership—in fact, he was one of the first registered members in France. Gradually, this practice has moved beyond pop culture, and on February 18th, the very first French championship took place.

To wrap up this introduction, the team would describe Franck as someone who shares our company's core values. In his day-to-day work, he is always positive, a man with a great sense of humor who is always supportive.
