Team Spotlight: Alban, Lead Developer at Deemply

Today, we’re spotlighting our Lead Developer, Alban. Passionate about his craft and dedicated to helping others grow in the world of coding, he shares his professional journey and personal passions in this article.

A passion for code

Alban’s path in his field is unconventional. He began in 2011 with a scientific baccalaureate, specializing in math. Rather than heading straight into an engineering school, he chose to pursue a degree in mathematics and computer science to keep his options open, eventually earning a DEUG in both subjects.

He continued his development journey by enrolling at the ESEO engineering school in Angers. His first professional experience came during a three-month internship in Canada, where he worked on a solution for detecting plagiarism in text and images.

Building on that project, he chose to specialize in software and data for his second year. To accelerate his learning in a real-world environment, he opted for a work-study program at Sopra Steria in Nantes.

During those eighteen months, he grew significantly. The connections he made were invaluable, and the work methods he adopted became the foundation for his future career. This period of learning was a pivotal time in his professional life.

To wrap up his studies, Alban worked on a final project with a group of students, two of whom were aspiring entrepreneurs. To present a concrete case to the jury, the group decided to focus on a startup project. Velco was born in early 2016 and grew rapidly. Alban was offered a position in November 2016, where he gradually built his team and developed the company’s solutions, growing alongside the business.

Despite his passion for his work, the pull to return to the Vendée region was strong, as the pace of life in Nantes no longer aligned with his goals. Through a mutual acquaintance, his profile reached Jérôme, who passed his resume to a development agency. After some thought, Jérôme called Alban directly; Deemply was growing, and he and Stéphane wanted to bring development in-house to offer clients greater responsiveness and constant innovation. Alban joined as the first developer in March 2020 and has since built the team he now leads.

Who is Alban?

Beyond his passion for coding, Alban is an incredibly positive manager. His goal isn't just to lead, but to support every member of his team as they develop new skills.

He wants everyone to grow, learn, and feel fulfilled in their role. For him, management should be positive, not authoritarian—a philosophy that perfectly aligns with the values shared by Deemply’s founders.

A generous person, he cherishes time with his family and loved ones. He also enjoys social gatherings centered around board games, which have become a true passion of his over time.

More than just the go-to person for the development team, Alban brings good humor and kindness to the office every day.
